MyPayClock Time and Attendance
Dare to compare.
MyPayClock vs. our Competitors
MyPayClock: A name-brand time clock with a
built in modem that costs less than $800, which comes with inexpensive badge cards to use
with your time clock, and unlimited services for a low monthly fee.
Competitors: A proprietary time clock
that usually costs over $1000 if it includes a modem. You must usually buy very expensive
badge cards, proprietary payroll software, often over $1000 as well, and proprietary cabling.
When you buy MyPayClock, you're also buying
high quality equipment with a warranty.
MyPayClock: The time clock hardware is made by
Verifone, a division of Hewlett Packard. This is the same proven name-brand hardware used by the
banking industry for credit card processing. We simply program the unit to act like a time
clock, enabling us to offer a high quality time clock for about the same price as a credit
card machine. We can also upgrade the software inside the clock and add new features right over the
phone line. Because we want your continued business, we cheerfully provide a no-hassle lifetime
warranty as long as the clock is connected to MyPayClock Time and Attendance. Additionally, we
only use highly-coercive magnetic stripes on our time cards, which are encoded once at our
factory and are resistant to damage from magnets.
Competitors: Our competitors manufacture their
own time clocks. Because they design their own proprietary hardware, they must charge for their
development costs in the price of their clock. The built in software is usually non-upgradeable, so you
can expect no new features or enhancements. Since all their money is made when you buy their clock and
software, they have little incentive to provide a warranty longer than 90 days or 1 year. Many of
our competitors do not use highly coercive magnetic stripes on their time cards, which makes them
vulnerable to magnetic damage. Just one touch from a magnet is enough to erase this kind of card! Before
you buy, look at the stripe. If it's not dark black, it's not highly coercive, and you'll find
yourself spending time and money replacing damaged cards.
What if you have multiple stores,
departments, or locations?
MyPayClock: Since all clocks connect to the same
server over regular phone lines, they can all be integrated into one system and one account! Employees
can even punch in on one clock and out on another. The clocks dial automatically and never need additional
attention.
Competitors: Unless you have time clocks with built in
modems, you'll have to run cable to each clock from your computer. Depending on how many clocks you purchase,
this may require an additional purchase of a server, which you will have to maintain. If your clocks
are in separate buildings, you'll need multiple computers, at least one per location, and a trained
operator at each site for maintenance.
What about competing time clocks
that have built in modems?
MyPayClock: Our clocks place outbound calls to our server,
instead of waiting for inbound calls to gather punch data. It dials a toll-free number once per day, late at
night, so you can set up the terminal to share an existing phone line. Most of our customers connect
the MyPayClock terminal to their fax line, because the MyPayClock terminal never answers incoming calls.
This is a fully automated process. You'll never need to contact any of your clocks to run payroll.
Competitors: Your payroll professionals must dial into
the clocks to download the information. You must dedicate a phone line, or a valuable extension number, to your
time clocks because they will answer all incoming calls. The cost of dedicating a business phone line alone
can exceed the monthly cost of our services!
What concerns should I have about time sheets
being kept at another location outside of our control?
MyPayClock: We automatically email you a time card report,
every day. This is a free service. Your time cards are always in at least two locations: on our secure server, and
in your email. Additionally, we make daily backups and religiously keep off-site backups.
Competitors: Your time records are kept in your computer. Unless you
frequently make your own backups, all your records are in one location. If you accidentally delete them, or the
computer loses them, they are gone forever.
What other headaches will MyPayClock
save me?
MyPayClock: The clock terminal automatically adjusts for daylight
savings time and also ensures nobody gets shorted an hour or paid an extra one, even if they work during the time change. The
clock is synchronized daily with the U.S. atomic clock in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Competitors: You most likely will have to practice the ritual
of changing the time every April and October. If the clock is of poor quality, the time may also drift several minutes over
the course of a few months.
MyPayClock: MyPayClock requires absolutely no setup whatsoever. Our
whole instruction manual is less than 25 pages. All you have to do is take the terminal out of the box and plug
it in. You press one button and it connects to the server, sets the clock, and synchronizes with your account.
Your employees can clock in and out instantly, and there's no software to install on your computer.
Competitors: If your are purchasing a clock with no service,
you are responsible for figuring out how to set up the clock and software to work with your company pay rules. This
includes setting the clock's time, overtime rules, and pay periods, not to mention installing the software and running
cables from the clocks to your computer.
